Lesson 6:  (No Plural Nouns)


 


In English, Plural Nouns usually end in (-s). 


For example, one “Cake” becomes two “Cakes”.


 


                But, in Japanese, there are usually no Plural Nouns. 


For example, one “Cake” remains two “Cake”…there is no (-s).


 


English:       I                        eat                        cakes.


                    Subj                   Verb                      Obj


 


Japanese:   I wa                cake o                   eat.                       (Notice:  I said  ‘cake’  not  ‘cakes’.)


                   Subj                    Obj                         Verb


 


 


Practice:


  1.   I             gave                      televisions.
  2. You        saw                        cakes.
  3. He          gave                      oranges.
  4. We         saw                        radios.
  5. They      gave                      cameras.


 


Answers:


  1.    I wa                     television o         gave.
  2. You wa                 cake o                   saw.
  3. He wa                   orange o              gave.
  4. We wa                  radio o                  saw.
  5. They wa               camera o             gave.
